This Elk was killed with a bow in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. He

green scored 575" and should net out at about 530" non typical. He has

and unbelievable outside spread of 79". This is the biggest bull ever

taken with any weapon.

kinda Photo-Shop-ish to me

that being said.....I hunted the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness area two years ago. Didnt bag one, but my guide had one not a whole lot smaller than that on his wall....and swore up and down his "daddy" was the one we spent the weeks stalking.

But....if it IS what is IS...... we shoulda heard about it before now (ie the local news)

yeah its real... and it isnt photoshopped... its counter staging. same as when you hold a fish out infront of you to make it look bigger.. these guys sat behind it and thats why it looks so masive.

Looks photoshop to me. Especially the right side. The mass actually gets bigger about half way out.

I thought the same thing as far as the guys sitting way behind it. But even if they were not in the pic those are some massive antlers. If the pic is real. I believe I shall do a little research and see if there is a story out there.:)

I LOVE seeing these threads... I always try to guess before looking how many posts it's going to take before someone uses the word "photoshopped"...

In my opinion, it looks real. I'm no expert though, and guess I could be wrong. If it is photo shopped, they did one heck of a job. lol...

Shoulda polled it... real or fake...???

that elk probably died because he couldn't lift his head up anymore cuz his antlers were so dang heavy. in fact, i bet he was already dead before they shot him!! or maybe he was sleeping... hmmm....

:dizzy: Wow!!!:dizzy: Just wondering where this photo came from? Was it found on a web site? If so which one. I Did a little research and haven't found anything yet. Ive been hunting elk for 20+ years in AZ,NM,CO,MO, & WY. with my biggest being 389" In my opinion it definatly looks real. Looks like it has a 79" outside spread. I have seen some monsters that were around 400"+ class bulls and this one makes them look small. Don't think its counter staging, look how far the main beam extends back. A trophy bull with 60" main beams are usually in front of that hump on the back and these are well past that. That elk could scratch its own @ss by just leaning back. Would love some more info... I'll keep searching.. Got a bull tag For AZ in Nov. ( my standards just went up )

You guys might want to read through this thread at monstermuleys: http://www.monstermuleys.info/dcforum/DCForumID12/6797.html

To me it looks real, but almost certainly high-fenced. If it were fair chase, it would be all over the place and Boone&Crockett would be hyping it like crazy.

AZHUNTER, I'm looking to start applying out west for elk/muley tags this spring, do you mind if I send you a PM with some questions?

B&C is reserving judgement. Reports are that it came from a high fence operation in Canada. The photo is appears photoshopped. Here is a close up of the antlers. Look at the line across the base of the "extra" tines.

As some have said it's not on the B/C watch list. So it's prolly farm raised.

Not on the watch list huh?   Lines often come from using photoshop. That's how you get a pen raised Canadian bull laying in Idaho.

Again, I don't think it's fake, but I do think the scoring may be wrong, and it is almost undoubtably from a ranch.

from B & C website:

UPDATE: Unless some horse packer left his feed pan full of oats in the Selway, this appears to be a game farm bull, reportedly out of Quebec.

...Then look at the photoshopped photo and you can see at least one has been added right where the line is in the close up photo I posted earlier.

Pfffttt! Those are just JPG compression artifacts. Without a bitmap version or uncompressed/higher resolution image, you can't really see a photoshop job unless it's a really bad one. If you know how JPEG compression works, it makes more sense.

For example, enlarge his face and you'll see lines also. Lines through the nose, corner of the mouth, neck, ect.

If you look at your photo and my photo I would hope even any one who has never used photoshop could see the difference. Yours is completely distorted and pixelated. It's still possible mine is distortion. Either way I don't count steroid fed animals raised in a pen and shot for a fee as "real".
Does the guy in the photo with the skull & antlers look anything like the guy in Idaho photo?

redwingsdude

Does it matter? Or do you think there are 2 bulls scoring over 500, with a palmated right sword with several stickers and a 79 inch spread? ;)

I don't see how you can see a line in your photo, and look at these new photos, and not see these tines clearly.

Also, stories have put this elk from free-range, to ranched, from Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, Montana, Sasketchewan etc. It's very doubtful it's from Idaho at all.

Does it matter?

Since it's just another steroid fed pen raised "trophy" I can't see it matters much at all. I guess I'm jaded. I kinda figure a guy that shoots a "trophy" behind high fences and then fabricates a story about it being free range will most likely alter the antlers/photo as well. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Id have to agree with fishous on this...if its a good photoshop job the artist isnt going to leave lines. Plus how can you just a photoshop pic when you drew a circle around the line in mspaint!?! Just kidding. My guess it is probably a farmed one.

THE PIC IS REAL AND IS NOT PHOTO SHOPPED HERES A UPDATE FROM B/C CLUB. Sorry caps on

This photo is circulating the internet at World's Record pace. The text accompanying the photo states that it was taken in the Selway Wilderness in Idaho with a bow and scores somewhere between 530-575.
B&C is reserving judgment on this bull. If this bull were, in fact, taken as a natural, free-ranging, wild, native elk from the Selway region of Idaho, it would be approximately 130-150 inches bigger than any elk ever recorded from that region.

UPDATE: Unless some horse packer left his feed pan full of oats in the Selway, this appears to be a game farm bull, reportedly out of Quebec.
