Lets start with the good news. Last night, I shot a nice doe.
Now for the bad, I took my girlfriend out for her first time in the woods. I was all serious about movement and how to be still. She did GREAT!!! I couldnt believe she sat so still for about 2 hours. At this point in the hunt we hadnt seen anything yet so I had to take care of a mosquito problem. I swated the back of my head and was looking behind me when I noticed my girlfriend turning on the camera. I looked up and there was a doe eating my bait. I shot her and in about a half hour we started looking for blood. I was off on my own where I thought she went when I heard, "is this blood?". I looked and shure enough she found first blood. I tell this story though like it hurt my pride but really it didnt. I am just happy that I dont need to buy a tracking dog anymore, and I am geaked that she is now excited about deer hunting.

Good deal. My girlfreind used to be the same way, I stress used to be. Now she wont come out to help me track anymore. Once the honeymoon is over the tracking goes out the window. Enjoy it while it lasts:D

Dude, let me tell you those girls are fun in the woods. Mine shot her first deer with the gun last year. I was sitting with her at the time, most fun I've had in years! She got a 5 pt. Now all she wants is one bigger than what I've gotten. This is more fun than huntting it's self. By the way, we have been married over 25 years.

Just be happy your girlfriend goes out with you. Mine is not anti hunting shes just anti killing cute animals as she calls them. She cannot even look at them after I have them cut up. She doesnt even eat red meat. She said she would scare the deer so it could get away if she went hunting with me. So needless to say i dont invite her. She would probably have a mental breakdown if she saw me kill a deer. Rather than celebrating i would probably have to stop her from crying before i could start tracking.

I tried to get my wife to shoot a doe 3 years ago. She tells me she is to afraid of wounding it. I've seen her shoot, not to shabby. I don't think she is really worried about the wounding, Just mixed feelings about killing an animal. I ended up shooting the doe and about 20 min. later an 8 pt walks out. Got him too.

She found first blood on the 8 point.
Last year I shot another 8 point with my bow. She was already in the woods before I had my car in park. She found that too.

I still ask her to shoot one just to feel the rush. I won't force it onto her. I'll let her decide when its time.

Not necessarily true. Like Nimrod1, it doesn't have to end once the honeymoon is over. Treat her right from the beginning. ;)

Nimrod1, keep it going. We're on 44 years....and my wife is a good tracker too. She was even a better shot than I before her shoulders went south.
