I am in Houghton Lake and have a 9 month old mix breed doing very well tracking deer blood. This service is free of charge around Houghton Lake and will travel farther for the gas just to get the experience for my dog. Serious inquiries only, contact Pete at 517-579-7102. Must have first blood.

That is a very kind offer Pete. I hope that dog gets some experience to keep him going strong.

What a wonderful offer. Thanks and I hope this helps some people (and you) - How far are you willing to travel for gas money?

I have two friends who could have used your services this weekend. Both shot bucks but couldnt find them. Your to far to make it worth either party but great offer anyways.

I would love to see a hound at work. How old can the blood be? If the deer is shot in the evening how long would the trail hold scent assuming no rain or snow?

These are questions i cannot answer with any accuracy at this time, its all new to me. I just happened to get a dog with a natural talent....im goin with it. I would be happy to hear some input on this from people that have more experience then I. My dog tracked a 6 point after 5 hours of pouring down rain with no exerience or training. He did not find the deer that night because we gave up.....but did establish the trail that led right to the deer in the daylight the following morning. That trail would of never been found by human eyes after all that rain!!! We had one happy 14 year old girl on our hands when we found that buck. I wish I could of been there the following morning with my dog...but had to work.

That is a great offer, Pete. I wrote your number down since our cabin is probably less than a 20 minute drive for you (depending on where you are in Houghton Lake). We have some swampy areas a some real thick areas that sometimes make it very difficult when tracking. Again, I will be sure to keep your number handy on the weekends we go up. Actually, those times will be as follows: Oct. 19th-23rd, Nov. 1st-5th, and Nov.14th-19th.
