Brand new bow $650.
Gas running to and from the range to fine tune your bow for 2 months $100.
Dropping your bow 15' to the ground below on opening morning, priceless!
First time back into deer hunting in over a decade, now I think I remember why I quit. Forunately, no damage.:yikes:

Don't feel alone. Another guy hunting the same private property as me dropped his bow. He had his bow and binaculars hanging and heard a snap. he was able to grab his binos but watched his bow crash down.

Been there, done that. In the dark, getting out of my stand one night, I thought I tied my rope to the bow and began to lower it down. Turns out, the only thing I tied the rope to was the air. I began to lower the bow down and it lowered down a lot faster than I anticipated. It bounced off of one of my tree steps and did a little damage, but nothing major. My bow is a High Country, Knight Force.

I'd fling a couple of practice arrows at a target to make sure everything is ok...

One year I got out to my stand while it was still dark. Got in my stand got my headnet on, gloves, release etc. and waited quietly enjoying the early morning. At 1st light the squirrel I had been listening to under the stand turned into a nice buck and starting walking off. I reached for my bow and realized I hadn't nocked an arrow yet. I just waved.

My bow fell about 20 ft. yesterday. Had it hooked to the rope, just started lowering it down and the clip came untied. I was lucky and no damage.

Got into my stand yesterday morning and started to pull up the bow and never remembered it being that light. In short, I had to go back down and clip it on again. Must have just thought I had it clipped on. Peed me off a bit as this body doesn't take too kindly to climbing a tree more than once but then remembered watching T.K. and Mike and laughing. Glad nobody was filming me.

But forgeting to put the broadheads on?! That's a classic for sure.

I checked the cables, cams, and limbs over really close. Then I shot to make sure everytig was ok. The brush below and my quiver seemed to absorb most of the fall.
Forgetting your broadheads? That definately sounds like something I would do.

Did something similar last season after i got my buck. I set my bow on top of my truck and loaded him in the back and took off. first turn i made onto the pavement sent my bow crashing to the ground. luckily it didnt really phase me since i had a nice buck in the back and the season was nearly over.

That happened to me once! Fortunately I was at the archery store shooting in the range.
