Hello - I'll be up in Newberry next weekend and would like to fish the Tahquamenon river. I have a 12' boat and motor and interested in walleye, musky and pike. Which stretch of the river should I fish - above or below the falls? Artificial or live bait? Techniques? Thanks for any help you can provide. If you have any other suggestions for local lakes I'll take that too. ;)

Troll, Sorry about the late reply. For future ref. My son and I fished there about three years ago. We went north out of Newberry and turned right just outside of town. We went to McPhee's ?sp Landing. We fished from there, downstream for a couple or three miles. We ate walleyes until we couldn't stand it. Everyday for a week. Crawlers dropped back in the deep holes did the trick, nothing fancy. I haven't fished up there since, so I don't know how it is now. A baitshop is on the right just after you turn on McPhees Landing Rd. (or at least used to). We saw tons of wildlife. It is a beautiful stretch of river, but get out of there by dark. The mosquitos are as big as hummingbirds, and bazzillions of them. Good Luck. Capnhook

Thanks Capn'. I also launched at McPhees. Had really strong winds so controlling even the little boat was challenging. Did some trolling and casting. No luck. I'll have to give the crawlers a shot next year.
