When you say that you "saved this guy for 2006" do you mean that you actually had a chance to harvest him last year?

He looks like a pretty healthy buck, that's for sure. Very thick neck and body. Could be that the cold temps are causing his fur to puff out a bit, though.

A shooter no matter how you look at it. Good luck!

Just how did you save him last year?

I didn't hunt there  . My sister in law started bowhunting last year, and her and my brother did most of the hunting there, so I just hunted other spots. It is only a 7 acre swamp so there really is only room for 1. She actually shot one that made this guy look small, but we never found him:sad: .

Wow what a buck! Just look at the neck on that bruiser. A mean, lean, scraping machine! :tdo12:

Peeing not pooping. Deer have hair not fur. No wonder most people bait.:dizzy:

Yeah, I won't be out there until early November, it is my uncles land and it is just like a 7 acre swamp. We can't hunt it all the time, but he usually lets one or two of us go out a couple of times. He doesn't bow hunt, but does gun hunt. I wish I could hunt there as I chose, I have to hunt off the ground, he doesn't want any trees set up even with strap on steps etc. but whoever gets to hunt there usually sees some good bucks. This year it is my turn to try a couple of times. Between myself, my brother, his wife, my other brother, my dad, and my wife (who isn't bow hunting this year, just had a baby) we just sort of take turns throughout the years sharing with each other. We just lost our main hunting land, so hopefully I can close the deal on this guy or a close relative later this year. I just love those pics though. There actually from my uncles game cam last year. This year he has already got a couple of 8 points on the cam, one of which my younger cousin had to pass on in the youth hunt, he was using a .410 and his self imposed limit was 35 yards, the big 8 was at about 50 and he didn't shoot. Thumbs up to him, I know a lot of seasoned hunters who would have tried to push the limits of there range to shoot at a buck like that, and he is only 14, first year hunting and he passed, with a little help from his dad of course. Any ways, good luck to all. I hope to be posting a better pic of this guy later this fall, one with me holding his rack;) .

Nice buck. Definately gets me in the mood to hunt. Just tried bear hunting for the first time. No good. Hopefully I'll have some success with deer. Good luck
