Hi all I was wondering if any one has cooked woodchuck and if you liked it or not. If so how did you cook it.
Thanks for any info.

I went over to Jim Millers house once and said" hey Jim smells like a good roast cooking"
He told me it was a woodchuck cooking.
My buddy eats them he prefers the younger ones.
He par boils them and frys them or he'll toss them in a roasting pan and add a few ground nuts and assorted wild edibles.

Yes..... tried it once years ago...... just to see how it tasted ....after catching it coming out of the hole under the barn foundation.

If I remember correctly, it's best to remove some glands before parboiling. I'll check the game cook book, but it seems they're under the 'arm pits' and one other place I can't remember right now for sure.

As I remember, it reminded me of frog legs........ couldn't figure that one out!. Did it in the slow cooker after parboiling it.

;) More out of curiosity ...... and sticking with the "I won't shoot what I don't want to eat" premise...... that is now somewhat ... uh, let's say MODIFIED, with all the damage they're doing under the outbuildings.

But I did try it.......and if I were in a 'survival' situation, I know I would do it again. :p
