Why not? I've been doing it for years.

no disrespect to anyone, but i believe that it's a scientific fact that you cannot be scentless!..You're going to smell like something no matter what!..

I agree you can't be TOTALLY scent free, but why add scent? IMO you're not COVERING your scent, you're masking it. You are just adding more scent to yours. Kinda like putting perfume on a skunk. The perfume doesn't cover the skunk smell, it just smells like a Stetson skunk. IMO Especially, if it's a scent that's not normal to that area, or too strong of a scent.

I feel cover scents are just another way for companys to try to make money. Kinda like the "Cough Silencer". How many of us own one of them?

You're right about just masking the scent...but it helps out alot right!....like i'll probably end up using the pine scented spray, becuase i'm kinda surrounded by pine trees.....becuase you know that the wind do like to play tricks on you sometimes, and it really don't blow the way you want it to, or else it'll be a great hunt everyday for everyone!

I try to set my stands very high in a tree to keep my scent above the deer. 20-25' is usually high enough depending. We have one stand 30' to get over the swirling wind in a bowl we hunt.

extreme scents silver xp kills order causing bacteria and is been found in blind label testing to be the most effective spray and wash on the market!

as for cover or curosity scents vanilla and or scent web in vanilla acorn combo works great! some folks dont like to hunt high! and sometimes 15 feet is the best for them or all they can do phyically/menatally, so every advantage they can get is good....... having hunted in a lot of differnt places i can say if cover is right and your clothing and you are good to go your fine! we have taken big deer as low as 12 feet off the ground and on the ground from pop up blinds!

Just play the wind. My father used to smoke big ol cigars while he was hunting, the big fat stinky ones. He used to get a buck every year.........just have 2 or 3 places to sit planned out and play the wind.

Just tickles me when I see someones blind that has a wafer of EARTH SCENT hanging there. Dang there sitting on the earth. Just more money for the scent companies.

I have been bow hunting before and whiz off the stand and minutes later have does and bucks walk right up to the wet leaves and smell them and NOT get all jumpy. Just a foreign smell but didn't scare them.

PLAY THE WIND........and don't make scent companies rich.

like everyone says.....play the wind and sit as high as possible. my hunting buddy will smoke at least a half pack of cigarettes during the morning hunt..no joke. but his freezer is full every year!!

I have used and tested in the field many of the cover scents out there, to were I believe that Scent Killer by Wildlife Research Centers and Vanishing Hunter by Hawgs lim'td to be the best out there.

As is it comes to attractites I like Code Blue the best. Deer Quest smoke sticks do work on accasion. Hawgs limited apple works to.

I spray my boots with red fox pee, have tried racoon but red fox seams to work better.

It is true you can't be 100% scent free but I try. I start off with washing all of my cloths in scent free wash (prefer scent killer powder wash), store the cloths in the H.S. scent free bag w/ a couple dirt scent waffers. I then clean my boots with baking soda water and put baking soda inside the boot, I store the boots in a air tight rubber made container with pine needles. I then procede to take a scent free shower and dry off with a towel wash with scent free detergent (scent killer powder). I then wipe down with scent free lotion which help bacteria from growing which creates scent. The first layer of clothing is my contain layer. Then I put on jeans and a fleece shirt which both have been wash in scent free wash. When I get to the field I spray down with Vanishing hunter to try to kill any scent I received from the house and the truck. I put on my Scent Lok layer and then my light camo Bibs and jacket of which both have been washed with scent killing wash and stored in my H.S. bag until the field. I then spray this layer down with Vanishing hunter. I put on my Scent Lok hat, gloves and face mask. (I previously forgot mention that I whip my bow and arrows down with vanishing hunter wipes; also the case. I spray it with scent killing spray to, I also wipe down any metal part with scent free oil from invisble gun.) I then put my boots on which has the baking soda in and has been sealed in the rubber maid container with pine needles. I spray the bottom of those down with red fox pee. Then I am off to the stand walking very slowly and stopping every few steps. When I get to my stand I hang my scent wick up only during the rut (which has code blue on it). I get into my stand spraydown again just in case I started sweating at all. I sounds like being anal but this is the only way I know to try to keep 100% scent free. As far as I know I have never been busted because of scent.

Like was mentioned, cover scents don't cover your scent, they just add another scent to it. Lets face it, when we are talking about an animal which can smell in parts per million, and can distinguish up to 12 different odors at the same time, if the buck can smell the so-called cover scent, then he can also smell you! Hunt according to the wind and take an elevated stand. Doe in heat and buck attractants don't work this early in the season, in fact you run the risk of spooking more deer with them than attracting. Use the sex scents during the rut. I've always been of the opinion that no scent is better than any at the early part of the season.
