I have fished twice. Once before vacation and once since.
Trolling, jigging, and throwing various crank baits.
Total of about 6 -7 hours worth without a bite.
I had heard the perch fishing had been pretty decent for a while. Pretty much nobody out. I think I know why.

Wes I wish I had good news. I have caught literally 2 legal eyes this year period. Last year I caught, well a lot. This year squat. Everyone I talk to this year has had basically the same luck. One here, one there.

Was just out the other day and nada, well one 14 incher for 6 hours of fishing.

Think its going to be an every third year on fire lake and then below average the other 2 years. Too bad we have 2 more years to wait.

If there are any left I don't know where they would be hiding. I have tried 2 fow, 6 fow, 15 fow, and all the way to 60 fow. The 14 incher the other day came in 36 fow dead on the bottom...................

Just not the place to fish this year.............too bad cus you live so close.

I think that if you do happen to catch any fish out there they will likely be undersized. Hardly worth the effort. What the heck.

And to think that Dan was just razzin' me about NOT havin' the b0tE out for two months.....
I know I'll be trying another body of water ; one with some fish at least!

That lake still has some Walleye swimming around in it, but, after last week there is one less. This is my story (and I am going to stick with it) that appeared on another Msg Board:

Hit Fremont Lake on Saturday morning to do a little late season Carp fishing. Mist and clouds and rain was coming. Winds were picking up and the lake was getting a bit choppy.

The line started to move and I picked up the rod and waited, and waited, and waited. Nothing happened so I tightened the drag a bit so I could reel in. As soon as the slack came out of the line I knew something was there. So, I set the hook and started to bring it in.

Right away I knew it was not a huge carp, not a big carp, and maybe not even a carp. Then, I saw it when it rolled. Here is a 4 lb 14 oz Walleye; part of the plantings the DNR is doing on inland lakes so that everyone can have fun just like we do down here.

And, to think that I went up north to go fishing for something different.

That right there does it. That WAS the last eye in the lake. I caught that one last year and let it go right at the launch witnessed by SFW1960. Right where that guy caught it at the wall. Well, now theres none left........on to another lake.

Lake really takes a while to cool down water temp was still 62 last weekend which isnt bad.

Did not get out this morning. Attempted to but boat wouldnt start. Did seem like there were some active fish though.

I figured that the Walleye was cruising along the drop off looking for tastey morsels of any kind. It is that time of year for them to start the feeding binge.

Several of the guys who work the shorelines along Lake St. Clair swear by the Long "A" Bombers.

The walleye I got last night weren't real big they went between 16" -18". ( good eaters) Sfw 1960, I can't say I remember the conversation. I'm not saying it didn't happen. I've got a good memory, it's just short. Now that good ol' Fremont lake has my attention I plan on getting out more now. At least until Muskegon Lake turns on.

I don't even wanna post that me and sfw1960 spent a few fruitless hours late this afternoon into the evening on the lake. Not so much as a bona-fide walleye bump...............good thing the lightening run us off the lake at dark or we would still be out there fishless.................lake just sucks this year is all I can say. :gaga: :help:

Maybe limits of perch or gills.

I knew curiosity would get to you guys sooner or later. You just get that "nobody can catch any fish there but I bet I can" feeling.
The strange thing is I have also targeted other species mostly crappie but how about one of those 3-5lb bass.. nothing.
The weather patterns we have experienced the past few weeks definitely makes it hit and miss.

It gives you just enough to keep you coming back for more. It seems like every other time I go out I do well. Oh well at least it's close.

Some nice northerns. I expect the perch fishing may be all right this winter.
Also if you are out marking fish (and I have been getting some nice marks in 25 foot of water) I think they could be pike. I have tried jigging raps I think I will also try a jigging spoon.
That is if I even go:lol:
Whats the White like is it wadable?

rbaddis
10-19-2006, 11:10 AM
I don't think I would would try and wade it right now. I was at a buddies house yesterday down river from the dam a few miles. The river was high and fast. The water is stained but other than that quite clear for as high as the water is.
