Would you rather hunt with a Tree stand or a Tree climber?.and WHY?

Me, I prefer a climber, becuase you can move from tree to tree if the deer you are after is surely not going to come the trail you are hunting, but they come they trail maybe 60 yards of you where you can't shoot...also, a climber has no chance of being stolen!

I have always used lock ons . But I lossed my hunting property this year so I think I am going to pick up a climber. The summit openshot only weighs14 lb. I found some promissing areas on some state land  I think.Being on state land I may very well need to be mobil do to other hunters. But I may just wait for the late season to hunt it when there is less pressure.

like twohats was saying the openshot is a good stand if you've got the $. I have an api stealth climber. I like it cuz it's light and you don't have to fold and unfold it, easy set up, and quiet but there's the crossmember right in front of me which means i have to stand to shoot and my best shots have been taken while sitting in a hang on. needless to say the climber is more versitile as long as you have an old stand of timber comprised of trees with no limbs for at least 20 ft or more, some woods just aren't like that. I just happen to be lucky and one of my properties is 70 acres of mostly trees like that. i also just got a new property and it's really thick stuff, i walked it once and still have no good idea as to where i would hang a stand especially with only 5 more days... so i'm just gonna go in with the climber and pray. just make sure you're in early though, you don't want to get caught halfway up your tree and have the granddaddy of them all walk underneath you.

Both.

I have one ladder stand and a climber. I was going to add a couple more ladder stands but didn't get around to it. Your correct that set stands can be stolen but there are other advantages besides the fact that you don't need to carry them around with you. The big one is that you can use them on trees that are too small, branched or crooked for a climber. My ladder stand is on a deer trail through youngish aspen that I wouldn't put a climber in.

Climbers are nice only if you have the right kind of trees, but they don't have to be used as climbers. I sometimes use a climber as a lock-on. I have climbers, lock-ons, a ladder stand and a safety cinch. Every one is used in different spots.

For private land I absolutely agree. Especially as 50 is bearing down fast. We have multiple ladder stands that cover our property pretty well. It's nice to be able to sneak in and out without making any commotion. It's not that much work to move them if you want to. Added to the convienience is the safety factor of a good ladder stand. A good climber is still a worthwhile investment. There are times I hunt public land or am invited to a new piece of property and am actually scouting while I'm hunting. In that case it's great to be able to set up quickly when you find a hot spot.

Each has it's place as stated above. I use both but prefer to hunt out of a strap on tree stand because i can get closer to the tree while standing. flip the seat up and you are one with the tree :)

I prefer to use ladders (and Loc-ons) because you can set them up in almost any tree.

I use all 3 (Climber, Hang on and Ladder stands). They have a purpose and play a vital role in my hunting success. I do like the my climber the best due to the comfort of it.
