Jeff Cooper passed away yesterday at his home in Paulden, Arizona.

Not everyone agreed with what he had to say about guns, politics, hunting, or life in general. But, he was an interesting individual in his own right.

That's sad news. Thanks for the update Alex. Every gun site I frequent has had updates about his failing health.

Most people know Col. Cooper from his rant page at the end of Guns&Ammo which was always entertaining and provoked a lot of angry "letters to the editor."

I've always like his instructional books and articles more than his opinion writing. He can be credited with the develpment of the "Scout Rifle" and has done an awful lot for the shooting sports with his "GunSite" facility and classes.

Agree or disagree with his philosophies , Colonel Cooper was a pioneer in modern firearm training. His presence will surely be missed in the world of firearms. Sad news indeed ...

His White, Yelllow, Orange, Red awareness principles (likely adopted from the Marines) was and is used by many many use of force teachers. Either in its original or some adopted from.

LFI added the color black to signify the state of awareness "after" the traumatic event, including cognitive dissonance and recollection problems of event order.

Col Cooper was a long time contributor to the defensive arts.

I didn't always agree with his ideas but always admired him for his knowledge. My sympathy to his family and friends.
