View Full Version : Hosed again by the HCMA
With the strong breezes this afternoon we decided stay inland and take the boat up to Stony Creek L to launch. We got there and the lake, you know, the one with a 10mph speed limit was closed for HYDROPLANE RACES!!!!
They caught me last year on this one too. I am tired of them closing a lake that is public property for special interest groups. Rowing regattas, hydroplane races etc.......

Yeh, I heard about the race. I took my father and wifes little brother out Saturday on the rental boats. Charlie (wifes brother) wanted to row around. I caught 4 pike and one largemouth in the 3 or so hours we were there. I hooked a into a few that got away also. We only fished by the rental boat area. I'm just glad they didn't have the race that Saturday. They had some marathon or something though. The pike are really feisty there right now.

A hydroplane race at 10mph max speed  That must have been boring. Were they competing against a local crew team? :D

They like to hold those races inside or very near no-wake/slow zones so as to create smoother water for the competitors. I've been involved in a few of these races over the years, as well as a few drags. Buddy of mine has a couple of fast boats and I've helped him out a few times.
It's one weekend out of the year... that's not so bad.
