As this deer season starts I want to ask everyone to remember the joys of hunting... Don't forget what this great sport has to offer and the things that we treasure the most about the persuit of a magestic animal. The word hunting means something a little different for all hunters. To me it means the joys of family, friends, and the great outdoors. Hunting is not only about killing and the harvesting of animals.... This is the biggest thing that people outside or against our sport struggle with, they believe we are all blood thirsty savages looking to kill something, gut it and eat it. There is nothing wrong with those things and as a hunter myself I enjoy the the thrill and joy of harvesting an animal as well as the next guy. But this season as we venture into the whitetail woods I ask that every hunter be respectful of the kill and take time to acknowledge are great sport doesn't just rest on the fact that we control and manage deer population by harvesting them. Through this great past times families have bonded, friendships are extended and those once or twice a year aquantinces are renewed at deer camps all across this great state. Each hunter can think back to a special time in the deer woods and what usually makes those times special, is who, where and how they are lived. This season remember to tell a family member, friend or aquantence how great it has been to hunt with them over the years. Remember this season doesn't have to see a kill to be complete, Remember that killing and harvesting deer is a privledge in this state and not something to be taken lightly. Remember as a hunter you are constantly scruntinized and your every move is watched. So for the love and passion we all share lets make this hunting season an ethical, safe, and productive season that we can all share in...... If the opportunity presents itself get someone else involved in this great sport, because the future of hunting rest in the hands of those who aren't hunting yet.....
