We had a great weekend at the trial in Allegan. The grounds were in great shape and I believe they had a record number of entries for the weekend. Several members from this site were there competing with dogs. Congrats to everyone who placed. There were some really quality dogs out there competing this weekend and if you came away with a placement it was well earned.

In the Walking Open Derby,
Gabbey, owened and handled by Nick Miller took first.

Merlin, owned by myself and handled by Bruce Minard (Back Woods) took second.

In the Walking Open Shooting Dog,
Bruce Minard handled Riddlin to a third place placement

In the Walking Open Puppy,
Bruiser owend and handled by Jason Miller took third

In the Hunt Dog Stake was,
Gordie, owned and handled by Bobby took second place.

Nick I wasn't able to walk your brace, but I did see Gabbey's last find I think it was and she looked real nice.

Congrats everyone!! I know I came home a happy guy. Merlin is really looking nice out there!:D

If I left anyone out please forgive me and please post here as I don't have the complete results list.

Congradulations to all the winners and handlers.

Jim, he's on a roll. I heard he had a very nice run and finds and a back as well. That's great as he a off age dog and is in competing with mostly dogs that are 6 months older than he is. Some nice pups out of that litter Bruce.

Obviously they had 2 reputable judges at the trial this weekend. :evilsmile

Irock am I misunderstanding what you are saying or are you saying that the judges that did not place Bruces dogs in the past trials were not honest people did not know what they are looking at.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Befor you start talking bad about people you may not know or know that well maybe you should handle a few dogs and start judging. If I misunderstood what you were implying I'm sorry But thats the way I took it.

Hey guys, lets not let this thread spiral down the crapper please. I hope Irock is not saying that about Bruce's dogs in general. Any issue that I may have had with a past trial has been discussed with the party(s) involved and I prefer to let it go and move on.
Let's enjoy the trial and hunting season. After all that's why we're out there with our dogs. :)

Terry, it's not about Bruce or his dogs, so yes you did misunderstand me. No offense taken. Out of curiosity though I do have to ask; why out of all the dogs listed as winners in this thread would you think I was referring to Bruce or his dogs? It's not about any particular dogs or handlers.

What it's about is a judge at a trial was falsely bad mouthing various dogs and the gentlemen he told it to let others know about it. OOPS! It's not hearsay, but fact and it's not conducive to bettering the breed or getting more people involved in the sport. There is no room for that in our sport. I do know the people and have judged and run plenty myself. On the other question; I do believe 99% of the trialers and judges are honest, but honesty and not knowing what they are looking at is two different matters. Not knowing what they are looking for is the fault of the clubs for using inexperenced people for judging. I'd would much rather have that than someone with their own agenda.;) I'm done whining for now.

Irock, is this Jim Gingas,Is there a particular incident you are refering to here? I have been attending coverdog trials at gladwin since 1988 and in all that time i have only heard one gentleman badmouth somebodies dog personally, and he hasent even judged in a while .If you personally heard someone do this please bring him forward.

Rich, yes it's Jim. I should not have mentioned it in this thread about the winners of this trial as it had nothing to do with it or the participants. Things like this in our sport just make my blood boil though. I wouldn't want post a name on a public forum. That would be up to the Gentlemen that exposed it. Even though it's rare in trials, people will be people and like any where else there is good and bad. They just need to be weeded out.

Again congrats to the winners. I'm done derailing this thread.
