Alot of new products come out, and end up being gimmicks.
I thought the same thing of the Air Rest when I first saw it, but I ordered a few in and last night I threw one on a SB XT.
After a little tweaking and experimenting, I am falling in love with this thing!!!
If anyone wants to shoot it, come on in and see me.

What's the story with those inserts for them Ken?
How much do they weigh, how much $, what arrows do they fit etc.
I saw that on the wall when I was there and Mike and I were talking about it for a while...

The concept is interesting, but... I just can't see it ever on my bow. :16suspect

I bet if your nock height and centershot are PERFECT then that thing might be pretty sweet.
I'll definately be reading the reports on this rest.

Quite an innovative idea. I'm curious how that extra 30 grains affects the shot.

The insert is an extra 25 grains for the carbon arrows. They run around $25 for 6.
The arrow itself is about 2 inches shorter than I normally shoot, so you pick up around 18-20 grains for a net gain of around 5 grains.
I'm shooting bullet holes through paper, with very nice arrow flight, although I've only shot it 10 yards here at the store.
Still more experimenting and tweaking to do, but I'm definitely excited about it.
Matter of fact, I'm gonna fling a few more right now....YAHOOOOOOO!!!

Very interesting. I wonder if other metal objects might throw it off though. I also wonder how different points would affect it.

My son and I were over at KD this afternoon to pick him up a new bow and Ken took us in the back to see the air rest.
Great concept! Of course, it will have to stand the test of time, first.
On a side note, the guys and Kelly (happy b-day) at KD provide the best customer service I've experienced at an archery shop.

It looks like a pain to get setup and tuned , not to mention the cost of the rest and the inserts that are required . I would think that the arrows have to be cut the precise length , and the inserts installed perfect or it will not clear the rest properly .
What happens when your string stretches ?

It's pretty simple to get the right measurement with a measuring arrow, and there's only way to install an insert, it's either in all the way or it isn't.
The magnet in the insert is about 3/4" long, plenty to compensate for string stretch.

The website said something about having to have a draw-stop or a solid hard wall. I shoot an older (6 years) Pse Nova and I worry that this won't work real well for me. Anyone tried it on a bow that's not as new and fast as mine?

Can't see it improving on anything that's currently available. It's a fallaway...with a magnet...and expensive exclusive inserts.

It's also a good training aid to ensure proper form as you draw.

has anyone read Dr. Ashby's findings on extreme front of center weight distribution of arrows? arrows with FOC > 20% penetrate much better than other arrows of the same weight. good way for fans of lighter arrows to make up some penetration ability.
might be a side benefit of using such a setup.. although, those are some expensive magnets, and my arrows are already getting quite expensive, with broadhead, arrow, crests, and fletchings.. :yikes:

A whisker biscuit with no whisker's...how long does it take the arrow to stop moving once you draw or even if you moved your bow for a shot,I would think it would take the arrow a second or two to stop moving to allow for a shot, good for 3d/target but I don't know about hunting situations, would have to shoot a straight fletch,a helical doesn't look like it would make it thru there.

Once it's up and locked it doesn't move, those magnets are strong.
It takes about a second for it to stop moving, by the time you're anchored and have acquired the target it's locked in.
I had the same as thoughts as you about hunting situations, and I'm not sure about it yet...I'm gonna shoot it more.
I'll try some helicals today or tomorrow and let you know.
Come on in and try it.

Am I wrong that this will work only with carbon arrows or will this work on carbon, aluminum or ACC arrows?

List some advantages over current drop away or containment rests ? How do you silence the arrow noise when drawing back ? If using felt , will it effect the magnet strength ?

Zero contact at the shot. Like...none at all.
No cords to cables, cable slides, limbs etc.
Silent...ever hear 2 magnets "attracting"? Me neither;)
No moving parts to freeze or rust or fail.
Who'll come up with the "Cons" side?:D

If I was shooting an Onieda or Monster bow I would put one of these on instead of a biscuit :)

The only con I saw when Ken demonstrated it for me was that if you tweaked your wrist a little on draw back, the arrow fell into one of the "crevices" of the rest (where there are no magnets). IF this happens in a hunting situation, you have to somehow get that arrow back into the "center" of the magnatized area before you could shoot (and do it with one hand, quietly).
