anyone try those fat boys? i was checking them out yesterday and they look pretty sweet, wondering how well they would be for hunting. i have an old darton 60mx and i'm looking for a light arrow to use. it's either that or gold tip 5575's

KJ, shoots them, but I believe only for targets. Try to stay away from any fat shafts for hunting. The larger diameter equates to more surface area which makes them more susceptable to wind drift. NOt to mention your penetration will be affected by the extra friction from the shaft.

Fat shafted and very thin walled...not made for hunting, they are a target arrow only.

hmm, ok, he was showing me some CCA's but i'm not too sure of the alum/carbon mix idea. i'd kinda rather have a straightup carbon i think. i've been using gold tip hunter 7595's but they said those are heavier than i should be using and recomended the 5575's. the bow is set at 62lbs and i use a 29 1/2" arrow.

A/C/C from easton. Those are a great choice. A little pricey.
Ive been pleased with the goldtips I have been shooting.
Whats your draw length. I have a lot of extra carbons, might be able to find you something for cheap.

I'm one of the very few in the area with XT 5575's in stock....about 8 dozen left now.

I shoot fatboys indoor and 3D.
Never hunt with them though.
I huntted 1 year with 2512's (a fat alum) cause they shot so well infoor I thought what the heck.
8 yards broadside and right though the ribcage, no heavy bone at all and the arrow was only half way out the other side of the deer with 78+ ke.
Don't hunt with fat shafts.
