I shoot Gold Tip Expedition Hunter 3555s and while practicing with my broadheads lately I've had a couple of inserts pull out of the arrow shaft as I pull them out of the target. Should you just use super glue to hold these in? What's the best fix? Thanks in advance for helping me with what I hope is a simple deal.

use the powerbond, stay away from the superglues they'll wreck your arrows eventually, make sure your pulling your heads out the same path they went in

I've been using a hot glue that apple distributes. Its more plyabale and flexible than the bohning stuff I have used. SO far its been really good. If I have to pull an insert it takes just a little heat on the field tip.

I've been using powerbond and never had an insert come out. I'm interested in this stuff that Grouse is using though. A little more info homey...how is it different from the bohning hotmelt?

The bohning stuff is stiff as a rock and melts at a higher temp, just not as easy to work with, it seems to have a short working time too. The apple stuff is more plyable and seems to have a lower melting point, but still good retention. I've only lost one insert that was shot into some wood. I use it for everything from nibbs to inserts. I like the lower temp on carbon arrows and if I need to pull the nibbs or inserts it takes just a little heat to break the seal.

Where have you found this for purchase? I like the sounds of it.

I use a two part epoxy. I rough everything up with light steel wool or sandpaper and then clean with rubbing alcohol. They will never come out after that.

How so? I have used it on both my vanes and inserts with no problems for 2 yrs. Only problem I've had is you have to be very aware of the quick set time.

Superglue is brittle and won't last. Epoxy or other flexible glues can stand up to the shock without cracking.

Mine have been through hundreds, if not thousands of shots, and never had one give out. More than I can say for the other glues I've used, and that includes 3 different archery shops I've had glue in inserts for me.
