I hope this is the correct spot to ask this question. If not I apologize in advance.

This past weekend we shot the 3D course at the Tuscola County Archers club. It was an excellent shoot. The thing we are curious about is this. Their course consisted of all Rinehart targets. On the targets there are all kinds of different kill or point areas. Now I understand that some may be for different angle shots. I was at the Rinehart website and they show the targets with one scoring scale as IBO and then the same target with a different scoring scale labeled ASA. Basically my question is is there a different scoring scheme based on each different organization? Also if this is so, how do you score if you are just shooting a basic club shoot? Some of the Rineharts targets have, what appears to be a small high score circle on the top back lobe of what would be a lung shot.

If this sounds confusing, I can try to be more clear. If you are able to understand, you help is greatly appreciated.

You might have to try archery talk or 3d shoots for that one if nobody helps.
all the best,

Yes...IBO scores the x as a 12 I believe and the ASA scores the goofy one's in the middle of nowhere a 14. I think anyway...never bothered paying that close attention to be honest.

Generally it's scored 5-8-10.

Some clubs score 12, some 11, some just count X's...it's really the club that has the shoot to determine.

Yep, the off center 14s are usually high left in teh 8 ring.

IBO scores the x as 11. Different sanctions, different rules.

How were the mosquitos up there? We were thinking about heading up there.

Now the ASA targets will have overlapping dual scoring rings. With the front ring always being the kill zone. The back scoring rings are for when the front scoring rings are too shot up. It's to double the life of the target. For most tournaments they'll inform you at the target state which kill zone you are supposed to shoot.

Thanks for the explaination. I think I will be able to settle any arguments this weekend at the Mid-Michee shoot.

Grouse hunter- If there were any mosquitos I didn't notice them. We were out scouting before hand and got a little sweaty and stinky. I think I bothered the bugs more than them bugging us.

If you get the chance to shoot there course, do it. We shot the "hard course" and it was awesome. They have some shots that are 30+ yards out, but you are shooting from up on the ridge down some 30 to 40 feet. Just like out of the tree stand. It made for a lot of fun.
