A few weeks back American Broadhead had a promotion on their website which offered a free, sample broadhead for filling out your information.
Its been several weeks now and I was wondering if anyone has actually
received one of their broadheads yet.

Got mine yesterday. Its a small...very small broadhead. After setting up the blades, I noticed that there is a gap between two blades...where it makes the cut on contact point.
I personally am not impressed with this model but I do like the Liberty model. Bigger cutting diameter and no issues with the blades not lining up.

I talked to Dave from ABC this morning regarding the gap between the blades. He said that because the ferral is steel, there is a coating on it. Just move the blade in the slot a few times and it should fit properly.
I was impressed with the conversation with him. We talked for about a half an hour, talking about broadheads, bowhunting, and of course ABC. Nice guy.
I do like the Liberty broadheads and told him the Sonics are just a little too small for my tastes.

I got mine yesterday. My first impression was similar to many of yours.....small. The slightly larger model would probably be more to my liking. I will shoot the head this weekend and see how it flies. Assuming it (and it's larger cousin) flies as advertised I will give them a try this fall. I'm very anxious to try the Slick Tricks too but they are waaaaayyyyy back ordered (I'm told they are waiting on new blades from Germany..??...) My other consideration is the Montec so I'll do some experimenting over the next couple of weeks.

Got mine yesterday. Haven't tested yet. They claim the size is deceiving and they cut bigger than they look. I'm going to pop them through some paper and compare them to my current heads.

Mine came yesterday as well.
Here's an interesting test.

i shot 4 deer last fall with the 7/8" cut sonic 100 gr. Fly awesome do an extremely well job on deer. The furthest recovery was a 42 yarder. watched them all die very quickly. I was a little un-easy about the diameter till I seen them fly, and kill so quickly. My opinion a better flying arrow, definately does a better job than a poor hit with a big head. I'll take accuracy anyday. I now have 2 dozen to start the season with, very impressed. Just my 3 cents. (trying to keep up with gas prices) LOL

Got mine yesterday. I can see why they might fly good being so small but it wouldnt take much bone to dull alot of the small blade surface. I dont buy the tuning argument because any well made broadhead can be tuned to fly good. I wasnt impressed.

Got home last night and after talking to Dave at ABC, I tried his suggestion to move the blades back and forth in their slots to remove any excess coating. Well, when doing that I knicked one blade and the tip broke off!!! So instead of it being a nice point now, its a chisel.
And still could not get the blades to line up...still a gap!!!

I shoot these and don't have any problems. I REALLY like them. I'm going with the pro this year. 1" cut, which is pretty standard. They have unbelievably penetration and fly awsome!

did you ask ABC if they sent you seconds or b grade? I'm not sure if they even offer that, but just a thought.

But speaking of this heads check this out:

I was very impressed with the flight of this head. I too will be using them this fall.
Yep, 7/8 is small by the general opinion, but I am sure it will make a nice hole on both sides of the deer.

I got my free one but the blades dont line up to a nice clean point, theres little gaps and one side is offset and doesnt totally line up. mabe from getting rolled through the postal rollers though.

I think they would be better off with a solid tip with built in blades like a grim reaper.

I just talked to the ABC rep tonight at the Woods and Water show in Imlay City. He said they had over 1500 requests for the free Sonic Pro. They had to discontinue the promotion because of the high number of requests but will probably reinstate it after the early season rush. They are having difficulty filling orders.

So funny thing...I have a lot of uncles and friends that don't bowhunt...so guess what they're getting in the mail!!

I just simply went through my entire contact list, then sent them all emails letting them know what I did.

Got mine yesterday. Havn't really put it together yet but it does look small and those blades remind me of the old bear bleeders which I've had come out and wind up cutting myself field dressing a deer.

Same here . I even pulled one of the blades out after tightening the nut on the ferrule to lock the blades in . I'm not impressed at all . I'll be using my Slick Tricks .

I recieved my free head a couple days ago. First impressions...small. Way small. Didn't get a "gap" as many have stated, but it didn't fit as tightly as I would expect. I shot it several times into my Yellow Jacket right along with my Grim Reapers. It flew pretty well, consistently hitting just a touch lower than my Reapers. The tip picked up rubber and cardboard that was very difficult to get out. Overall, a pretty decent head, but not impressive enough for me to switch...I will pass it along to someone else to try...

I have a gap as well, played with the thing for an hour. Got it to be "reasonable", but after seeing some pics of blades folded over etc from kelly's post.....well, I think I'll stick to my G5.

I will be using mine like sully as my critter buster.

I guess they sent out a bunch of bad ferrules and will be shipping out another free sonic pro to the first 5000 people or something along those lines. I know the one I received was bad.

Either way I'll be using Grim Reapers.
