I have never fished the fall bite (or the summer bite for that matter) and wondered where to start. Keeping in mind it'll be out of a 16' flatbottom with a 25 h.p.
I know some spots that I ice-fish are really weedy this time of year so they may not be any good. the only place i have ever fished for perch from a boat are sag. bay (long time ago) and harsens island this year with limited success. any tips and or locations on the u.s. side that won't have me getting beat up for an hour long boat ride.
Remember MIKE THE ELDER! YOU STILL OWE ME FOR THAT FLYING SMERCH FROM ICE SEASON!!!

My advise is start just outside of the 9 1/2 mile rd marinas and wait till you see a 27 Tiara named AWOL and stick to him like glue!! :p
Seriously, I wish I could help you but I’ve never taken the time to learn the US side of the lake very well. I’ve stumbled on to some fish there on occasion but it was just blind luck for the most part. There are plenty of guys here that fish the area so hopefully they can give some insight. Good luck! :)

Did fairly well by the B bouy this weekend, which, give or take a bit is about halfway between the mouth of the clinton river and grass island towards end of north channel. You could launch either in the river or even Brandenburg park and it wouldn't be that bad of a hike.
Right now lots of fish but not a lot of big ones, catching 100 to keep 25.

Just float in front of the Clinton River until you see Gone Fishing headed for Canada and then stick to THEM like glue. From past reports he has gotten "lucky" over there once or maybe even twice

Matt, (EV) I have a seat for you but I'm not sure when I'm going out again. Either this weekend or next weekend. Having new windows put in next week so I might be on a short leash this weekend. I'll PM you but if you get nervous about not hearing from me you can PM me first to remind me. Got CRS you know. I've got a golf outing/Championship some Saturday this month but I can't remember which day right now. See, CRS.

Where are you launching from? front of the 9 mile tower and GPYC have been producing alot of perch. Just look for the groups of boats and join em.:)

 Funny, we were just in that same area this morning (Tuesday), but maybe a mile north of the B buoy, fishing 10-12 ft. Biting like crazy from 6:30-8:30 on spreader rigs/crawlers. Caught about 85...kept about 40, but they were on the small side (7"-9"). We keep some pretty small ones because my brother and I don't mind fileting them...or eating them . We call them "french fry perch". YUM!

All along the area between the 400 bldg and GPYC will just keep getting better and better....you'll just have to pick your days with a boat of your size!

EV,
You might want to try drifting crawler harnesses on 3-ways near your ice spots, 10 FOW in front of Buds. I've been cleaning up in Anchor Bay the past 2 weeks in the evenings. Still a worm bite in the Bay. Small 1" pieces of crawler on 2 hook harnesses have been taking one or two Walleye and at least 50 Perch per night.
The East winds have been filling my freezer.

Gotta love this place! Thank you for all of your suggestions and tips. Should I happen to float over a nice school of eaters you all will be the first to know the gps #'s. Mike, I will try to get ahold of ya next week sometime......do I need a Canada License?

You don't necessarily have to get a Canadian license but if you want to try to find John or Ed and tie off one of their cleats then you'll need one.;)
My son doesn't have one so if he goes then we stay U.S.

I ate 'em already. And besides, I think you were lying about all the fish you were catching. After we got there all I saw was Donald fighting a big long weed. And those heavy sinkers you guys use sure do make impressive bends in those rods.
