View Full Version : Peep - one eye or two?

Are you supposed to shoot a peep sight with one eye or two? I've been shooting with one just fine but didn't know if there were benefits to two. Do most people shoot them with one eye closed? I really could use some added depth perception with two eyes if possible. My biggest challenge in archery seems to be the ability to judge distances. I just can't seem to tell the difference between 15 and 20 yards.

Shoot two eyes open...just like a shotgun or open sighted rifle.

i have always shot 1 eye with peep. Tried 2 eyes and couldn't get used to it. If you have trouble with distance, measure from the base of your tree and make a small rock pile, or stick pile, or whatever fits with that terrian to mark your distance. Thats what i do at all my stands, otherwise i'd be in trouble. i'm terrible at guessing distance especially when i'm getting ready to shoot.

I go to Lowes or Home Depot and get some of the little flags they use for marking gas lines ... they come in like a 24 pack. I place them around my stand at 20 and 30 yards in all four directions. That leaves little doubt when having to make a quick ranging of the deer.

for the life of me I have never been able to use 2 eyes.. I just can not focus on either the site or target at the same time...

I can't do two eyes with a peep. I have a astigmatism in my left eye.

You're not supposed to focus on the site...just the target.

Maybe I will try this week while practicing... see what happens....

One nice thing about a faster bow is you don't have to differentiate between 25 and 10 yards, just use the top pin. I start getting some drop off at 30 though. I guess I better crank it up.:dizzy: :dizzy:
all the best,
