Mike
I was out by the Cris Craft plant up to the bend were the old Garr Wood plant was. By the millon dollar home now. I was almost swamped three times by boats 35 feet or larger. I had to get off the river but not prior to putting my life jacket.
No fish either.

That blue area between Russell and mainland is one of the most violated areas on our waters. It really needs to be posted.
We spend quite a few weekends at AHC on our cruiser and it never ceases to amaze me at the number of large boats that just fly thru that stretch of river.

Very informative post Mike...now if people would only read it and follow it! :dizzy: Related story about following boating rules...I spent the day Monday at my relatives up in Port Huron/Marysville areas. So along about 2pm, some of the younger ones wanted to go for a boat ride (imagine that  ). So against my better judgement because of the holiday and what I knew would be a zoo out on the SCR, I agreed to take a bunch of them out on the boat. Went right out of PH through the Black River, and had a nice ride until we got down around Marysville, and then the "rules of the road" on the river were completely out the window. Boats were going every which way, passing in every imaginable direction, jet skis going in and out riding the wakes, no one using boating etiquette or rules, and it was a complete zoo. I just couldn't deal with the mess, so we turned around and headed back up to Port Huron. Got back in the Black and putting along back upstream, when the coast guard decided to do a random check of us. Great guys, and we were clean as can be on everything, but I told them about the Marysville area and that they would have their hands full should they head down there. The lead guy laughed and said they had had the worst weekend of their lives trying to keep the peace in the SCR. Apparently boating courtesy is non-existent on holidays like that.
