Headed over to the Canadian side and tried a few spots along the south shore in 17 fow working the weedbeds. My wife has not been out much so this was a trip that I hoped we would do well. The girl brought her luck with her and we ended up with our limit in just over 3 hours. Nothing huge but good eaters were the norm. The catch:

Nice Job John, good to hear Houghton Laker and Mike The Elder on the water today, been a while since I have been on the sight and the water.

Got (22) silimar in size, 8 - 11"ers.

4 miles out north east of 9 mile, sitting all by myself. Started off looking like a limit but, then about 9:30am it died, got one every 40 minutes or so. I new I was doomed. Moved into the pack in front of Grosse Point and nothing, then to one of Ed's old spots, and nothing.

But, the 22 perch that I got are worthy fish

You guys sounded a little surprised to hear that Bill Bell, handline reel repair artiste was out perchin'. He can do some perchin' too. Too bad most of the ones we caught were too small to keep. We only kept 22, some of which would have gone back if they weren't so torn up after swallowing the hook. Bill was catching doubleheaders, a perch on one hook and a smallie on another hook, sometimes two smallies at the same time. We went through 4 dozen minnows and only kept the 22 perch.

By the way, for those folks that I couldn't hear, my radio antenna is only a four-footer and my boat sits kind of low. Sorry if I didn't respond to anyone calling me. I had Houghton Laker relaying messages for me.

Dan and I Fished the afternoon bite. I believe in John's, Gone fishing's location . It started out slow but 2 hrs before the sun set the fish started snapping. We ended up suing 90% of our minnows. I picked up 3 Dz and Dan picked up 6 DZ. Nice day on the water, Calm with little boat traffic on the queens side.

My dad came down to visit so we were out also on Monday. We moved a lot but couldn't seem to get on any. We ended up with only 10, 8-9 inchers. Great morning to be out there. Hey MTE, my antenna is broken and is only 2.5 feet long. My range sucks, but I did here you at random times and HL also. I heard HL talking to Walleye Mike and Hotwired also. I must have been close to you at some time during the morning.

We fished Anchor Bay over near the olds Bud's Resturant for perch on sunday. We almost always do well over there but not today. We only caught a hanfull of keepers.

Lots of big boat traffic that didnt have a clue about common courtesy. Guys in 30 footers passing by us 100 ft away at half throttle throwing a 4 ft wake. I guess thats Holiday weekend boating at its best.

same story as everyone else (Except Gone Fishing!). SuperHunter and I fished around the ditch and ended up doing the best on the canadian side about 50 feet off the channel. We ended up taking home abou 20 average sized fish.

Something that was weird: We were getting lots of our fish with our rigs about 2 feet off the bottom.

sunday am, fished 14 fow, staight out from 9 mile, well away from the GP pack. kept 60 nice ones, alot in the 8-11 range. went though 6 dozen minnows, and we were actually cutting em in half towards the end. plain rigs seemed to work the best. most fish were caught from 7-9:30 then really slow. 2 big smallies also.

You were in the stained water? The light only go's so far and Perch need to see. About 1/2 mile off of the Ditch in Canada the water cleared up and the bite was on the bottom.

Ed,

The water was pretty clear where we were fishing. The only problem we had was floating weeds every now and then. There were some stained sections around the channel that we noticed as we drove in.

Some great eating there John! Capt Perch, HL & myself each took home a nice bag. The plan for me is to go out after them the next 5 mornings in a row. I noticed they are starting to develop egg sacks. Looking forward to when we join you for a perch outing!

Hey Dave, that trip might have to wait till after the Perch tournament. Between HL, Ed and the rest of that crew, those guys are way too good to give any of the little knowledge that I might have to offer! :p Only kidding of course, I'm sure I could learn plenty from the experience. I didn't forget, we'll set something up soon! :)

We were out this morning (Tuesday) SW of Grassy in 10-12 fow, and the bite was fast from 6:30-8:30, then it slowed right off. Kept about 40 from 7"-9"...we don't mind fileting the small ones, so we kept a few that some guys wouldn't.

John I'll be looking for you this year:evil: I know last year you changed your look of the boat and I didn't believe my radar when I saw your bleep all set up in pure dark;) I'm thinking of bringing some bumpers out with me -you know just in case I get to close:lol:

Kidding.

I did fish the Clear Canadian waters today 2 pm to around 5 pm . We did OK I'll try to post a photo later. It's time to clean fish now.
