Went out with my old buddy Ramlund man this morning. We decided to downsize out baits in the wake of the rising barometer, and Tom quickly latched into a pike (about 8#) on his Super Rattletrap (1 1/2oz). I Boga gripped and unhooked it at boatside without ever removing it from the water. Then the fish thrashed and the Boga slipped from my hand, dissapearing into the murky water.
"Oh my, that certainly was an unfortunate turn of events" I remarked.
The wind kept us drifting along at a good clip and as I stood up, Tom was in a bit of distress as his line was now under the boat, and the lure, which I had dropped back into the water after unhooking the pike was fouled on the bottom, bending his favorite St Croix muskie rod under the boat. I scampered up front and got on the electric and had us over his lure in a few seconds. He got pulled it loose and up out of 14' of water came his lure. Hanging loosely in the gap of the hook was the lanyard to the Boga grip. On the other end of the Boga was the pike. :D
BTW Tom, SWEET new rig you got there.
If you guys see an Ohio registered Blk/Wht 18' Lund Mr Pike with a 150 Honda hanging off the back, say "hi" to Ramlundman. If you can catch him. He let me drive for a while today, what a gas to drive. That mill pushes that boat around like a bat out of hell, but we had no problem conversing at 4000 rpm and 40mph, other than the wind noise.
