anyone try the AMG carbons yet? My buddy sells, cuts, fletches all arrows. Gold Tips are so hard to find right now and these are VERY comprable to them. Kind of generic looking but they are really nice. had him make me half dozen and I can't tell a difference between them and the GT. Check them out if you are looking for GT and can't find them. call Rick at Nothernrec.com. sorry, don't know how to make a link.

No offense but they're nothing like GT unless they have a new process.

They're VERY similar to the Carbo Tech's. Very light and Very stiff....very tight tolerances...great shafts.

Guy in Dundee (Allied archery) has something to do with them. He did the "rolled carbon" stuff before PSE's radial and Carbon Tech as well. His were on the market before anyway not sure if he has a patent or anything.

They can becaome scarce quickly which is why a lot of shops were hesitant to go with them.

If you can get them use them.

Sorry. It's Northernrec.com. They are the same AMG shafts that Allied has. Rick just distributes them and also makes the completed arrow. My experience, which is not that of some, is that they fly just as true as the GT's and seem very durable.

So Kelly, you like the AMG shafts better than the Golt Tips? If so why? If not why?

I've never like Gold tips personally.

I know I'll catch hell but...
Inconsistent spine thu the same batch, inconsistent weight, inconsistent spine in the same ARROW sometimes....I've had maybe 3 dozen at different times and ran a few of them thru the spine tester a buddy made:tsk:

Of all the shafts I've run thru that tester none were as bad as 3 different models of GT.

The AMGs are rolled crosshatch and spiral. Difficult to explain on here but the construction process makes them extremely consistent around the diameter of the shaft.

Think of it like this...take a pencil and say on one side it takes 2lbs of pressure to break it...now turn it over and all of a sudden it takes 4lbs of pressure to break it.

Plus there's more carbon and less glue in the AMG's making them stiffer but still lighter.

I won't say there better than any of the GT's though because I gave up on them 3-4 years ago. Different strokes...some love them and shoot the lights out but I don't trust them.

Thanks Kelly. Don't know too much about the AMG's except what I have read and experienced. Northernrec.com has a spot to link to his ebay auctions. from there you can get in touch with Rick with questions about the products he deals in.
