Good job on the sturgeon Jim!
Were you in the general vacinity we fished last time out?
I won't be back out until next weekend--too much stuff around the homestead to get done.
BTW, you didn't run into the ID10Ts from the last time out did you?

I was fishing the same general area as usual but downstream a little bit. Boat traffic was light with no idiots. According to a chart on another website, the estimated weight of a 65 inch sturgeon is 82 lbs. This one felt every bit of that.

Very nice fish. were you fishing by yourself? If so, how the heck do you land them alone. How did Dortman do?

Wow! That is a hog! Nice fish Jim. It was a good night to be out there. We ended up with 2. I caught a 49 inch sturgeon, and Mike caught this 57 inch fish. We also caught few different redhorse suckers, a walleye, and a nice looking channel cat.

Nice job on the fish Dave. It is always good to have you guys out there.
jguc1 was also out last night and may have gotten a couple of fish too. Lets hear from you Jeremy.
Sweatyspartan--Those red marks are lamprey scars.
PaulD--I was alone in the boat. Don't want to seem conceited but I am pretty good with a net.

Dortmand- I notice how you are holfing the fish. Scale and I got a 63-1/2" earlier this year, and I had the fish resting on my forearm like you do in the pic. How bad did this shred your arm? That sand paper skin just pulverised mine, it took all of 2 weeks to completely heal after scabbing up and it itched like hell. Anyway, that is a beauty and I was just curious if you are now suffering from "Sturge Burn" as I did.

Krull,
Yes, usually those big fish really scuff up our arms..and the little one's will shred it as well becuase there scutes are pretty sharp. And usually I got the burn and itch for a couple days after, then it goes away.
