Hey all,

I was wondering what it the best net for surf fishing? I am looking for a net that is easy to carry, being as out of the way (while walking or casting) as possible. Something I could sling over my shoulder would be great. Please pass on suggestions: names, links, or whatever.

In the past I took my pier net and left it on the beach and fought the fish while I walked to shore to get it. I never lost a fish but do not want to do that any longer.

Thanks,
DaveK

I've got a beckman steelhead/salmon net that I use in the rivers that works great in the surf as well. It's got a short handle, nice sized hoop, and a really deep basket. I got mine at Gander a few years ago. It's a really nice net.

I got one from Bass Pro Shoppe, has a 2 foot handle and an elastic strap to put around your neck and one shoulder. But I may swing by a Gander Mountain and check out ones that SD talked about. At any rate, make sure to get a net that is "hook friendly".
