I used to work 1st shift, so I would fish the piers and rivers but mostly before sun down. All Jokes aside, how is the pier fishing at night. I remember when I was a kid we fished the rivers after dark all the time because fish were moving, do they do the same in channels.
Also, I have tons of Rapala's and body baits, if J plugs are so hot right now for Kings, why wouldn't casting Big Body baits????

Pier fishing at night is even better than in the daylight, in my opinion. I usually go out about 2 a.m. and fish till just after daylight. Spoons are your best bet, but anything that glows is hot.

Nighttime can be great, it can also be dead, depends on the night. Glow spoons are good, but so are body-baits. Try J-13 rapalas, barramundi maulers, thundersticks, and reef runners. Also, on nights when nothing seems to work, and there's fish around, try burning a trap, talk about a HARD hit!

Night seems to be better earlier in the salmon run when fish are fresh from the lake, later when the fish have been in the system awhile Ive found first light to be better cause the fish dont strike lures with the same ferocity but Ill still tag alot of them with spawn( my favorite way to get them)

Yes, a "trap" is a rattlerap, but any rattling bait will work. I agree with Lucky Chuck, night is better early, like August. During September, first light is prime, though they can go all night then also. I run skein, or big bags during the day, and that catches alot of fish, go with bobbers on calm days, and slip-sinker rigs on rough, good luck.

I actually do really with with skein & bobbers on windy days too.The gyrating water jiggles the spawn up and down and they cant resist that.
