Looking for some HELP!!!!

I went to Tawas last weekend rideing and had some truble with my Sled. We got up there Friday night and left the Sled on the Trailer and we got some snow. Saturday morning we ran it and it ran fine. Saturday night we got pounded with snow and we left it outside. I ran it Sunday and it started right up. I was going at a stedy speed and then it was like it was slowing down then speeding up. I don't no whats wrong. I had a full tank of gas and i just put new spark plugs in it. Someone told me it might be something with the belt or somethink like it??? Does any one No what could be wrong?? Its a 1985 YAMAHA SRV 540.

It is a pull start

It is most likely the pipe. What happens is the baffling inside the muffler of the pipe with those old sleds breaks down and can sometimes close the exhaust tip up. That is why you get the slowing down and speeding up. Just take off the pipe and shake it. Listen for any debris in there hitting the inside of the pipe. If that is the case buy a new pipe im almost positive that is it. I had that same problem on one of my sleds.
