Go for the best breathable waders you can get. You can wear them at any tempratrue as long as you layer properly underneath and the 10x more comfortable than any neoprene wader out there. For $100 the cabelas dry-plus breathable waders are a very good value.

I used to use the ones with the attached boots, but I used to do a bunch of duck hunting too. The stocking foot might be better for stream fishing. You can pick and choose which boot you want to wear. The felt bottom is good for slippery rocks, but not for a mucky bottom.

More support on your ankles in the streams so you don't turn an ankle. They also are more comfortable.

I would go with LL Bean breathable waders they have a lifetime warranty on them if they leak send them back and you will get a new pair no charge. Get the stocking foot and then order wading boots with them get them with felts though.

you can usually pick up a pair REALLY cheap through auction. I picked up a pair of Simms G3's last year, brand new for $250. You don't have to spend that much, but remember, the more you spend now the less you spend in the long run. Also keep in mind that with stocking foot waders you are going to have to purchase a pair of wading boots, which will set you back another $50 or so. Check out the Simm's Freestone stocking foot, best wader you can get for the money.

LL $$$ Bean?
Yeah really expensive $109 for the emergers and $170 for the west branch!! Try simms and other big name brands well over $200 and many over $300. Can't beat Bean's warranty if you are not satisfied send it back for a refund and if your waders start leaking send them back for a new pair free of charge no shipping charge even! Yeah real expensive!!

Well, somebody has to offer the opposing viewpoint. I say go with the standard Hodgeman stocking foot neoprenes. They are warm and cozy if they fit right. In warm weather, you don't need waders anyhow. Save the bigger part of your budget for wading boots that will last. Hodgeman's + aquaseal = lifetime of stream fishing for about $50
Oh yeah, breathables will make you sink much easier God forbid you fall in in that cold water that is best suited for neoprene waders anyway; and they rip BAD and are harder to repair.
At the risk of sounding like an old fart, I still have pairs of Red Ball Brawlers that are still giving me good use, despite all the tread on the lug sole being worn down. The lesson here is don't forget about traditionals as long as they are light, flexible enough to allow you to move well and have a good fit....oh, and cheap!
I still remember my college days and finances.....or you can get a good set of breathables and live in your car (let's not even talk about feeding it gas).:) ;) ;)

I just got a pair of the breathable Cabela's stocking foot for about $100, normally $149 and let me tell you they are very comfortable and you won't sweat your boys off in them either.
