Sure you can get them off the shore! Buddy of mine has a 10lb. fish on the wall he got off the bank. Take a walk along the Black River out to the point. Try casting the river as you go, if the boat traffic isn't too heavy you'll get some Bass. Try out on the piont. If the baitfish are near shore I think you might find a some Walleye or two. Try over by the sail boat ramp at Metro too! Use that perch set rig and play aruon with distance from the sinker.
Fall of the year I think is best, the wind pushes the waves against the rip-rap stunning the minnows, the fish wait for an easy meal. Try the public access at the end of South River Rd. too!

Johnny white, this isn't really close to metro but it
may open up some windows. Check the Port Huron night
time walleye under outings.
good luck,

My biggest is a 31 inch walleye off of a peir at night in the late fall. I caught it on a bomber jointed long A ,firetiger. I hear they run close in the spring too. I ve caught steelies before sunrise off the peir in Oscoda on a chart/redhead silver plated countdown. Its the closest Ive come to getting steelies to the surface.

You might want to try the spillway at harper rd north of metro parkway for the eyes...jigs and tails, 3/8oz coffer dam upstream 200 yards or so

BE WARNED! You can only fish the spillway upto Jefferson. Until the season opens! All inland from there is just that! INLAND water way. Good spot though!

That area does not encompass the S. River Road access site, does it, Mike?

I don't belive so. Check the regs, should say how far you can up the river. The site is out on the lake. The DNR site there might be open.
