Need to know if anyone knows of a product or home remedy for cleaning up a dirty bilge area. Getting close to putting the boat away and wanted to clean and dry it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If its oil, a regular car/engine de-greaser will work It is flammable so be sure to rinse and let dry prior to use. . If its dirt or water scum. try boating a few times with a few cups of simple green in the bilge.

just put some regular old dish soap and several gallons of water in the bilge and take the boat out for the day by the time you return the sloshing action from the day on the water will clean the boat front to rear when you get home drain and rinse just be sure not to dicharge into the lake

Yeah mine gets a little crud built up on it also. I just use extra elbow grease when I am cleaning the boat up. I'm assuming you are talking about the splash well area on a boat with an outboard motor.

Technically the bilge is the bottom of the hull where the bilge pump is mounted. My bilge is not accessible and I wouldn't want to clean it because of all kinds of wires, hoses and structural reinforcements down there. Plus no one sees it. I imagine it might be visible on certain models of boats.

Oven cleaner in an aerosol can works great also!

If you're talking about the actual bilge, I mix up some strong hot water(as hot as I can get it) and simple green, and then go tow back and fourth for a minute so it sloshes, then let it sit for a while, then power wash it out through the drain hole.
