Hey guys,
what do you do to make your pedestal seat mounts pop out of the bases easier?
I've got a couple of mounts on an old fishing boat that I think I'll get a hernia just trying to get them outta there! (not sure if they've ever been out! boat is an '93)
thoughts?
Hammer?!!
SLEDGEHAMMER?!!!!

Would not a little oil just run down the shaft so you could twist them out after a day or two? Don't have them myself, just a thought...

I have the same problem with mine. Mine have the plastic sleeve that fits the bottom of the post and that fits into the metal base on the floor. The only thing that I found that works consistently is silicone spray although the manufacturer states not to use anything......
If you don't use silicone spray you need a hoist to get the seats to come out. Try the silicone spray, it will suprise ya. I do mine weekly.

THANK YOU!! I thought I was the only one with that problem. Have silicone, not afraid to use it.
I wax the post and the plastic insert in the base with carnauba wax.

thanks for the posts guys!
I'll see if silicone can get down in there and loosen them up.
if not....
16 lb. sledgie! Tried it again tonight (with a little oil) and no go.
get's pretty darn frustrating!
(and yes, I'm pinching the tab!)

I had to do all four on a boat I just bought.
What I found easiest was to take the bases off the deck, and using a block of wood to protect the finish, hit them with a 2lb sledge to break them loose. Sand and other grit galls the plastic and corrosion of the aluminum base made them HARD to come out.
Like Esox said, use carnauba wax, and do it often!
Worked for me.

....but first I have to get the %$^&$#!@# things off!!! ;)
I was thinking just that (unscrewing the bases), but I thought; "if I'm having this much trouble with the stand... I wonder just how bad my bolts are? will they just spin, so now I made things worse? (base is now loose, but the stand is tight?!!)
I think I'll wait til next spring and leave well enough alone ... for now! (have to get through MY season! DUCK SEASON!)
