Hi everyone,

I have this upcoming weekend off and myself and a couple of friends would like to do some fishing in a lake somewhere that isn't quite so close to home. We are from the Lansing area, but are looking to make a trip on this upcoming weekend to try a new lake.

We'd like to troll if possible but we have no problem casting away. And would love to go after some Walleye (as there are not many lakes near us with good populations of them) but we aren't too picky about what we catch as long as we're catching it :)

I don't know the states' lakes very well unless they are within a half hour or so of Lansing and I'd rather have some input as to where to go rather than just picking a lake randomly and hoping for the best.

The boat: The ONLY reason I'm not out on Erie/Sag Bay to go after the 'eyes is our boat. It is a 14' Aluminium Rowboat. It has a trolling motor and a very nice 15HP Merc on it, but it still is very small. Because the boat is on the smaller side, we can't do the great lakes and whatnot.

Point me to a good lake and I'll gladly bring ya back some filets!

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Try Muskegon Lake. There is always something biting there.

There are about 10 or 12 different lakes all within 20 minutes or so of me. ( Crystal )
If you decide to come this way ( not too far from you ) , let me know and I'll fill you in on them.

JackBob,

Crystal doesn't sound too bad. We fished Crystal Lake this winter and early spring but haven't been there in a while. I know of Duck Lake and that Montcalm county has some other good fishing as well.

I may twist your ear a little later this week :)

Thanks!

Na, go north young man!! Drag some harnesses around Lake Lelanau for some good eater eyes!!! Grab a tent and stay at Lelanau Pines, MS.com member Walleye Rick is one of the managers there.
