Went out at Metro Beach today with Stelmon, IceFishin Nut, TattooMike and Frank. We started at Metro, and we each caught one perch and the bite stopped. Went over to Gone Fishin's House and tried his canal, no luck there (THANKS JOHN!). From there it was back to Metro. Caught a few and then IFN had to leave....AND then the BITE Started!!!! I ended up with about 10 Keepers and TattooMike and Frank ended up with 24 Keepers! Here are the pics and stories, and it was a pleasure meeting you TattooMike and Frank! Two more fine Michigan-Sportsmen!

panfisherman,
Exit I-94 at Metropolitan Parkway (16 mile rd), and take that east. After passing the light at Jefferson Avenue, you are entering the park. Metro Pkwy takes you right into the park.
If you are still not familiar, the exit is about 5 miles past the I-696 junction (if traveling on the eastbound). Good Luck.

Glad to hear you guys finally got into a few fish. Sorry the canal didn't produce any fish for you. I don't know why it doesn't seem to hold fish in the winter like some others do. It's not too bad for Panfish and Bass during the summer. Actually, I'm kind of glad you didn't get the fish going because then I would be out there fishing instead of getting the boat ready. Nice meeting you Stelmon, Tattoo Mike and Frank! Only a few more weeks to launch!!!!!!!!!!

Don, looking forward to doing some fishing with you. Sounds like we will be competitors in the Salmon tournaments on Huron this Spring. I sincerely wish you the best of luck, as long as you don't finish ahead of us. LOL Maybe we could try an early Perch run or go for May Walleyes or even a Muskie drinking trip in the summer months. In either case, I'll stay in touch. John

Sorry Ice Nut, I didn't forget about you. I think you would enjoy one of those Muskie drinking trips!! If there is a lot of floating weeds, we'll need those strong arms to constantly reel in the baits to keep them weed free. By the way, what did you do to your knee? I thought that leg was hollow! Later Bro, John

Well it was more like 15 to 1 lol just messin. The only thing I can think of is that I was using 4 lbs test as a leader and you guys were using 10lbs. That may have made the difference. I've seen it happen before.

John,
Honestly I have no idea what I did to the knee,,,,,,ever since I was about 21 the docs told me I would have to have it replaced!!!!
I went in today, and they sucked alot of fluid out, and looked at it under the microscope and found alot of bone particles.....
The general concensus is degenerative arthritis.....
But enough about the knee,,,,,,,
Whats up with this weather??????? I'm thinking about going to metro after work to try for some perch,,,,,, anybody gonna be up and ready by 4:30 am??????
I should get there by about 4:30, and am planning on leaving by about 7, if anyone wants to go, let me know.......

Ice Nut, 4:30 AM, are you crazy?!! My canal is frozen over so I,m sure you'll be busting ice at Metro. Also, I don't know about you, but I have never had good action for Perch in the night hours. It seems you catch Redeyes until the sun breaks the horizon. But good luck if you go. You're a DIE HARD!!!
