Lower unit for an I/O

does anyone know where a good place is to have the lower unit replaced on a 1987 four winns with an OMC 3.0 liter. The gears are completely blown out in the lower unit, the housing is intact. We are getting quotes from 600$ for gear replacement, all the way to 1800$.We are willing to drive a little distance, we live in Fenton area. We purchased this boat for entertaining our kids. It was too hard to take the whole family out on our fishing boat, especially with the kids freaking out after a couple hours.

Try E-Bay. Chances are you can find an outdrive to fit for far less than a rebuild job on yours. Or you may be able to find all the gears you need to rebuild yours.

Try Hildebrands Marine in Coldwater Mi. He has OMC goodies and is relatively painless to deal with price wise.

Is this a OMC stringer drive or is it a Cobra-Volvo style drive
