A friend asked if there was a mechanic, here in the Detroit area, who does work on larger engines with one of those nameplates. I had a name of one guy, Norm's or something similar, but the phone number does not work.

I am not sure what is being looked for; it could be engine parts or it could be labor or it could be both.

Anyone have any suggestions that I could pass on to these guys.

Yeah, get a new motor. In my experience you can fix these two brands all summer long and never get it right, season after season. If what they need fixed is any sort of good money, it would be better spent on a newer motor from Merc, Rude (Johnson) or Yammi

I know about the "year by year" repairs. I have a parts motor with the Chrysler nameplate on it which I will be dropping off at Tonga's house one of these days. This guy wants to try the repair so I am just looking for someone to help him out. As far as I know he will have a hard time finding ignition or carb parts.
