You're a smart guy. Better gas milage, better for the environment and you still have the capabilities you need.

Nice vehicle there waterfoul. My wife and I purchased about the exact same one (red though) a couple months ago. We really like it. So far no major problems. Every once in a while a disc sticks in the CD player/changer but you can get it out with a credit card (apparently this has been discussed on the web). With you changing out the CD player you shouldn't have that problem.

We just towed our small travel trailer up to Tawas a couple weeks ago. Trailer is about $1500-1700 pounds. We got about 15mpg or so towing so that wasn't too bad. I haven't taken it on a long highway trip without towing yet. Mixed city/highway I have been getting about 18-19mpg.

(my last truck was a 3/4 ton suburban with 454 in it. Got about 10 mpg so I know your pain:lol: )

I've got a 2006 with the same specs. I'm happy, just plan ahead when stopping and towing your boat. I have an 18' bass boat and it sure does push the Escape if I try to stop fast, nothing but skidding. Didn't have that problem with the heavier explorer, but didn't get quite the gas milage either. I would say 15mpg is about right.
