Where do you get the pork rind you use on a jig and pig lure? I was told they would be in jars, like the salmon eggs, but I was unable to find any.

Don't waste your money on real pork. They're impossible to hook and dry out. The ZOOM ones are good, but I just picked up some Strike King 3X trailers and they're AWESOME! I've had a jig completely destroyed and the trailer is still in perfect shape. I sware the only way to lose them is by breaking your line. Best of all, they catch fish! Give them a try.

Is there some sort of a secret to fishing a jig? I've fished them a lot of times and have only caught 1 bass and have been bitten off a few times by pike...
Fish them where the fish are. ;)

I'm not sure. up until last year I could never catch one on a jig and now I can't keep them off. Are you sure there are fish in the area? You should be fishing through weeds, not around rocks or sandy bottoms. You want to pull it right through them, because the fish are down near the base of the weeds.

i fish jig/n/pig in heavy cover - pads, hydrilla, docks etc. flip, shake repeat.
for open water i use smaller finesse style jigs (1/4oz) w/ a single or double tail grub as a trailer. the latter is a great smallie technique.

I own at least 6 or 8 jigs of various colors and sizes. I have tried several trailers on them all. Not a single fish. If I'm fishing heavy cover or flipping docks I prefer a t-rigged (often with the bullet weight pegged to the hook) with a sweet beaver or some similar type bait.

I can never seem to get it threw the weeds. I think thats the biggest problem.

might be the style of jig. for weeds look for a jig that has a head that resembles a bullet sinker.

Right about the bullet sinker style jig. Try it other spots, like trees and such. But make sure your using good line. I use 14lb. fireline with mine and haven't broke off. Went out and caught 3 bass and 2 pike on a jig today. And that 3X trailer is still in perfect shape.

They spray our lakes (2 in the nieghbordhood) 3 times a year. Weeds grow back, or you gotta switch up how your fishing. It doesn't seem to hurt the fishing too much.

Maybe not where you're fishing... but over here it had definitly affected the fish on several lakes already mentioned.
I've learned several new tactics for taking bass this season and last. I can pretty much cover the whole water column now, down to maybe 25' or so, Weeds or no weeds... and if a couple of hard core guys I know can't catch a fish in a normally good, weedy lake that isn't this year... I know there's an issue stemming from the weed kill.
