I was on my honeymoon near Munising and the pictured rocks last week and caught some lake trout jigging in over 150' of water in Lake Superior and the trout were full of Gobies! I couldn't believe it, GOBIES have invaded EVERYWHERE.

i share your discontent but not your expression of shock....
they are in Erie, huron and michigan...why wouldn't they be in superior?

at least the trout are eating them.

I know, I'm just shocked they were in the gullets of the deep water trout. I figured the cold waters of superior may keep them to the shallower waters. I guess I'm not shocked, just a little surprised.

It's cold in shallow all winter. I would just be surprised at the depth that you found them.

That's what I meant that was so surprising, the depth of the water. Resilient little bastards!

I think the gobies we now have came over on a freighter from Sweden, which is a pretty cold place most of the year. Also, most of teh Swedish freshwater lakes are deep, glacial lakes, just like Superior.

I wonder how many Lake Trout eggs are getting gobbled up by the lil buggers?

Yeah and I think some of them also came over from Russian or Ukraine lakes too, didn't they? I would imagine Russian lakes as pretty deep and cold.:tdo12:

I believe that the deepest freshwater lake in the world is in Russia. I have caught more than one of those little buggars netting smelt in the spring. They are definately everywhere.

that does it... they need to reinstate the bounty on those butt holes. while in alpena my cousin and i targeted gobies... in an hour we had over 50 fish dead in the garbage can on the peir. the dnr guys where cheering us on.

we need to do a goby derby... seriousely. like 10 or 20$ entry 1st and second place and 50/50 the money to like the dnr or st clair flats... some group like that. im seriouse.
