with everyone starting to get out in the woods, I was wondering if anyone has been seeing any of the boars that were talked about earlier in the year, and wondering how far they have gotten since Midland

Are you talking about the hogs that escaped/were set free by vandals from a "game farm" a while back. If so, a couple of guys I know saw one a while back (I can't remember when) and took a shot at it. Needless to say, they didn't bag it (it was a long, difficult shot. At the time, there was a rumor that there was a bounty in the hundreds of dollars if you could bring one into the owner, dead or alive, and you got to keep the hog (yum, free range pork for free). I don't know if this last part about the bounty is true, but there was a sighting in "the general Midland area" a while ago. If anyone has any information about this, I would be interested just out of curiosity. The rumor mill has it that the DNR was "miffed" about the release of these hogs.

The bounty rumor was not true, there was an article in the Midland Newspaper a few years back about this. We ended taking a hog of our property in Crump, which was about 6-8 miles from where they escaped. I callede the owners told them where we shot it, the date, about the size of it, and the sex. They said thanks for letting them know, and enjoy the meat. Man was it tasty, fresh back straps on the grill. yummmmmm.
