I have learned thru this site that a east or north east wind blows that warm water out on Lake Michigan piers but what about Lake Huron piers?
What should I watch for wind wise to blow the warm water out in late summer?
Thanks,

The same principle applies. An offshore wind is and offshore wind. The west (Michigan) side of Huron would therefore need a West wind to blow the warm water out and allow the upwelling of cold water to occure near shore.

That is true, but we've always taken kings on NE winds in Oscoda. The last two weekends the water has been around 70, and there's still a few poking around. I'll tell you one thing, Oscoda is the ONLY place I still feel somewhat confident in when the water is on the warmer side this time of year(or a bit earlier). For some reason, no matter what, we hit the first salmon(or two) around August 1, nearly every year(except last year:D ).

We do well over here on the west side of Lake Michigan when the wind blows out of the west and southwest in the fall for kings and south in the winter & spring for browns.
I would imagine it would be the same for Huron since you are also on the west side of that lake.

Thier are always some kings to be had(in Oscoda) on any wind but the best fishing in Aug. is on a west of at least 1 day. More fish will move in ,feed more aggessive and stick around later into the morning. Once it gets into Sept. and the water is starting to cool and the run is fireing up a north or northeast wind can be hot. It does make it hard to ge out to the north wall but its a lot less crowded.

Right on.

It's starting to get about as bad as the south pier, I've seen a few nights where we had more people than the south. I think alot has to do with the fact that alot of south pier boys get tired of watching us bang the $h!t out of them, so they come over. North wall is a 6/7:1 ratio, though the south does have it's days!

Can you surf fish either side (north or south) at Oscoda?
Is this any good? Does it depend on the time of season and conditions?
I am going to get out this weekend or next and am not sure which side of the state to target. I will be watching the weather and staying tuned to reports. With the price of gas and limited fishing time, I need to really chose my spots!

Sure can. I've never seen anybody do it though. I planned on surfing the north side this September when the salmon cruise in shallow, and the pier is crowded. The kings cruise in right upto the beach off Oscoda. This time of year fish the pier though.

I've only seen one pic of a guy who surfed in Oscoda. It was maybe two years ago and he had a pic of a brown that he surfed over his Easter family vacation up there.

! A bunch of years ago one of the best in the area was a guy named Ed Ward. He use to surf fish in Sept when the bigger schools showed up. Mostly on the north side. It was best when the water was a little rougher. Some mornings he did well.
