Any place to wet a fly line in Petoskey? Lodging was too expensive last notice in TC and we've decided to stay in Petoskey. Can anyone point me in the directio of and readily available fishing in the area? The girlfriend will follow to some extent... Pardon my lack of geographical knowledge of the area. We're up there this saturday thru tuesday.

There are plenty of rivers just off US131. Just look at a map to get an idea. I'd give more specifics, but I know this site frowns on specific stream names. Great access sites, just check a map.

PuttPutt, I just deleted your post because it names specific streams that are not on the approved list. There is a "sticky" at the top of the NW Rivers threads that states:

"Before You Post Read This"

"Please note, no rivers may be named in your post outside of the larger rivers that are specifically listed on the forum header (Big Manistee, White, Pere Marquette, Big Sable, Platte, Betsie, Boardman. Please do not reveal specific holes or runs.) for this regional listing. In addition, specific holes, access points, etc must not be named even on the large rivers. Small rivers/streams not listed on this forum's header must not be mentioned by name. Any posts that violate the spirit of these rules are subject to deletion or closure without notice."

Please communicate the information about the streams mentioned via PM or email.

The river that flows through Petoskey gets pretty warm/clear/low this time of year, I'd try one of the other streams that surround town. Like the others said, grab a map of the area, there's a bunch of places to fish within 20-30 minutes of town, basically in every direction...

I went out last night and hit one of said places, and caught a few trout...look for deep water cause all of the streams up here are running low right now.
good luck,

Well, we are off and going to leave now. Than you to all that replied. I'll let you know how things go. On another note I'll be posting another thread for the weekend of Sept 8-10. My birthday is on the 12th and we are also celebrating a bachelor party up in Eastport at his cabin. We're either going to bring boats up and do a small tourney on Torch??? or hoping that the salmon are in for some fun night river fishing. Keep me in mind.
