Inserting an image file into a message post

Please forgive me since I'm sure this has been asked before, but I could not find it. It looks like to include an image in a post, I would need to post the image into the gallery, then reference the location within my post, using a vbcode tag that looks like

"http://michigan-sportsman.com/forums/images/....filename.ext" ?

I hope that comes out above, and is not interpreted as an attempted image.

Is that the only way, or is there another way to directly attach an image file into a message?

Nope the only way is to use vb codes. It's made easy for you by clicking on the IMG button when you want to insert an image in one of your posts.
