View Full Version : who needs boat oil ???
In order not to hijack another thread....
what about some of us M-S'r getting together and splitting a 55 gal drum of Quicksilver ?? Sure are a LOT of boats here. I could use about 10 gallons myself !!
It would make it cheaper for all of us.
Would we have to go through an existing boat dealer ?
any takers ???
I'm interested, I'll probably go through another 8-10 gallons before ice up. Last time I checked on the price of 55 gallons of petroleum products versus gallons, the savings was only 4%,if thats all we can save, it's hardly worth the hassle. I will try to see what I can find out tomorrow.

As Paul noted sometimes the amount of savings doesn't warrant the aggravation. Early in the fall I've found snowmobile oil on special by the case in gallon jugs cheaper than going the 16 or 55 gallon route, I won’t go thru that hassle again unless there's substantial saving involved!
Send Doug Phillips at BPS an e-mail or a PM ("Bass Pro Shop Doug" - *he's a member here on the site!) he might be able to get you guy's a deal on cases of gallons if the order's big enough!
I know the marina I bought the last gal from is still making a sizeable profit even when they offer it cheaper by the gallon when you bring back the jugs.
Doesn't look like the price of any petrol products is heading down anytime in the near future. MAybe if we get enough guys together we can get a volume discount.

You would probably have to find a friendly marine dealer to get it. We can happily provide evinrude or johnson in a 55 gallon drum if anyone were interested.

If you like I can ask Bill to get you a price on a drum
..in fact....ask if there is an additional price break if we get 2-3 drums at one time
