Slick fishing

Hey guys what would you say is your normal charge time is on a 24volt system after a good work out from your bow mount trolling motor from a day of fishing.. This is my case I have a Cabelas on board 2 bank charger and after I gave the trolling motor it it's hardest workout yesterday on Lake Saint Clair, what would you say the charge time should be?
When I got home yesterday from fishing I plug it in and it was still charging after 8 hours which I thought was essesive compared to my normal time it takes to charge.. I normally fish the river and it never really gets a work out because I am trolling with the current in the river so it never gets the batteries lower than 50% I would guess.. but I do plug it in after every trip no matter what charge it has left..
There is a little button you push on the bowmount that will tell you your Battery strenght and it says full charge, I am not sure how accurate it is but just thought I would include that.. The on board charger is only 2 years old with that being said lets hear your thoughts.. Cya Slick
PS..I forgot to mention that the charger shuts off by itself when the battieres have been charged
