i have checked conections, bulbs the wires for a ware. the wireing kit came with grounds at the hitch and where it conects to the trucks lights do i also need them on each tail light and how would i do that.
thanks for any help.

depends on the trailer condition is it a welded or bolted construction ...alot of rust? if so then yes runnin a ground from the harness directly to the light really does help. what about the harness on the truck itself is it in good working order?

trailer lights are grounded thru the fixture where it is bolted to the trailer. I would start at the truck make sure the plug on the truck works .trailer light fixtures are really made cheap many times the little metal contacts that make contact with the bulb gets bent and does not make contact

The trailer has some rust I scraped sanded and ground the rust then primed and painted. The truck harness is new and was installed by a reputable trailer company. I will try running a ground I am not much of a electrician in the light housing where should I connect the ground wire? green wire, brown?

you can simply try it to see if it works runn a wire fromthe harness tot he lights now a simple alligator clip on each end and touching the trialer will make the ground "jump" back there easier and show if its a trialer ground problem. if so i runthe wire fromthe screw mounts of the lights to the front and deadend into the white wire of the harness the screws that mount the lights is your ground

The white wire on the plug is ground and grounded to the trailer the brown wire is the running lights the green wire is either the left or right turn signal the yellow is the other turn signal the bolts that mount the light are the grounds for the fixture

The vast majority of trailer lighting problems can be traced to a ground problem. Once you have a good ground everywhere, they generally work fine. A bad ground anywhere in the system can cause some strange things to happen.

Should be good to go. Thursday I went out and picked up the components for the new charging system and installed them. I ran it for a while in the driveway that evening and it appears to be operating fine. I'm launching in the morning for a shakedown cruise to see what happens. But at this point I don't forsee any problems so I should be able to finally get in some fishing time. :woohoo1:
