Manstee question...."Are we there yet?"

I just picked up a small boat this year and will be fishing close to shore. I'M NOT GOING TO RIDE THE PIER!!! That pissed me off before when a boat did that to me and damn near spooled me but, what I was wondering is like let's say at Frankfort...is it good to fish between the pier and the breakwall? I want to stay clear of you guys out of respect but, wanted to know if I can get into some fish in this pretty good sized area and not be elbow to elbow with other boats. Thanks guys.

I was in Manistee the last 2 days and yes they were getting some in the boats at the mouth. and even saw 1 landed in the river by a boat. The fish were in shallow friday night but last night was a bust off the pier.
