I would have bet on the snake, since all it needed to do was bite once.
Wonder if the cat was protecting its territory. Can't imagine any other reason to do what it did...

wow that's almost as good as watchin my buddies 7 jack russells when a cat "accidently" got into his back yard,the cat wasn't as fortunate though....
