Lowrance GPS question

My Lowrance GPS keeps reading WAASP aquired and Position Lost constantly. It never keeps my position for extending periods of time, which makes it difficult to set waypoints and monitor position. Even on clear days this happens.

Also the back lighting on my Lowrance seems to be not working. It comes on when I turn on the unit, but then it turns off and it's a dark screen and difficult to see. Any ideas on what might be wrong.

is there anything in the way of the antenna that could be blocking signal. is the antenna supposed to be powered and not hooked up (no power to it) mine needs 12 volt power connected to antenna to work properly. as far as back light is your unit color, mine is and i have to leave backlight on all the time otherwise screen is dark, you should be able to go into menu and make this change on screen appearance. greg
